Is it normal to have to constantly redo projects because the higher ups give feedback too late? I'd like to be prepared for my new job.
I just quit my job. There were many many reasons why I quit, but this one was a small annoyance that aided in my decision to leave.
My work would often involve creating video presentations for our sponsors. The videos would take at least a weeks worth of time and it had several people involved. Each of these are well over 80 man hours.
The problem is after we create a video it needs to be approved by the higher ups. One director in particular would constantly give feedback asking us to redo multiple parts for very simple reasons. For example, using the wrong word instead of one she prefers.
Whenever we asked for clearer expectations she would never give them to us. Last year we tried creating a list of things we should/ shouldn't do and we are still waiting for her to give us the list back (a year later...)
And her feedback is never consistent. One day using a specific word will be fine the next it's not. She also wants to only see the final product.. she refuses to watch the raw material. The one time they showed her the raw material she watched 1 minute said it looked horrible and wouldn't even watch the rest.
This can't be normal right? If it is I'd like to know now so I can be prepared when I start my new job next week.
