So ignoring my troll posts on other subreddits for a moment, I am in an interesting situation. I make 48k+10k towards my medical (my wife gets medical for me), and a bonus that caps at 12k/year. Currently my department hasn't hit any bonus yet this year. We are in a newer market and our company has refused to support us much because they don't know how. My lead colleague has had his job threatened so i've been pushing him the past 2 weeks to find a job. Despite him giving me all the reasons why he should, he would dismiss the idea.
I did this because I began looking a few weeks ago and I respect him a ton and didn't want him to get screwed over if I left. I had my final interview today for another company, offer should be Thursday. My colleague put in his notice today (he played the same game I did, but I understand why he did). So now I might be strong armed into accepting this job. The listing said 55k+ bonus, OTE was 95k. My OTW was 60K+10k for medical. But given that I've completed my masters and check off EVERY box they want and even said to me I am the perfect candidate (from the owner), I feel like I may have to take 55k+ bonus given the shitshow that is about to happen. I originally wanted 75k+smaller bonus, but now I understand that structure would be difficult for them. Plus they have to buy me out of my contract of 6k.
So here is the question, if they come in at 55k+6k buyout, should I try to counter given what is going on, even a little push? My job title is sales/presales engineer and this is in the Tech Space. I have 2 years of direct experience and a masters degree in IS.
