Other people being let go is taking a toll on me

I am recent college grad in my engineering role at a large Fortune 500 company and within the last 3 months I have seen 2-3 people I work closely with fired/terminated for cause. The reasons being performance. While I am not in jeopardy myself I often find myself thinking about them all the time - how did they tell their spouse, can they quickly find a new job, what bills do they have, etc. An individual that was really nice to me and helped me when I first started got fired and it’s just getting to me a lot knowing you could be in a bad spot very quickly. Does this bother other people and how do people manage seeing this happen to others.
