(X-post from r/askUK) Store Associate at a Charity Shop I've volunteered at for 3 years as a first permanent job after graduating in economics with a 2:2?

Bit specific, but not sure what to do. Stress and anxiety led to a difficult final year and I scooped up a mid 2:2. I'm v worried I'm going to be v dependent on my family and not have a job for a while (there are gov't grad jobs - e.g. ONS - out there for people with 2:2's, and I would like to work in the public sector, but I can imagine competition and the covid choking off jobs will lead to them going to 2:1's or higher).

I can't be fussy, but I worry the almost Living Wage Store Associate job will 'lock me in.' It's a permanent contract and I get that I can leave whenever but it would be impolite to jettison off unless I stick at it for at least 1.5-2 years (plus I know the other associates/manager v well). What I'm trying to get at is whilst it will definitely give me confidence, experience, team work skills etc etc (it does involve running the shop when the manager isn't around, so it's not a terrible first permanent job) I'm worried it will stop me from getting access to public sector jobs ('this person with a degree from a Russel group uni has been under-employed and probably forgotten all his economics from back then').

I've volunteered at the store for 3 years now every Summer and I love the staff to bits - they've really helped with my own personal development as well as giving me confidence/new skills, so there is a very decent chance I could get the job and I know that I would really enjoy it. I just feel like there's a lot of pressure to get a higher-status job off the bat.

I'm v tired and anxious atm and I'm sorry if I come across as snobby. Thank you for any nuggets of wisdom :)
