My mother(41yo) is fearful she will lose her job, she works as a data analyst/accountant in my hometown's grocery store. The job is a good paying one (45k a year w/ benefits) and the news is rather sudden as the company recently announced this and there is word that 20-45% of the employees will be layed off company wide and these layoffs are very likely to impact my mother. She has been searching for jobs for awhile as her and my father have been trying to get out of my hometown and closer to their kids and also to my fathers place of work. The recent news however has made this job search a lot more urgent. I would like to help my mother but I'm at a loss for the kind of jobs that would be available for someone of her age and skill set.
Just a little background, as mentioned above my mother has worked at this company for 15+ years, and has steadily grown through the ranks starting as a 2nd assistant manager -> assistant manager -> department manager -> manager of store operations -> data analyst/accountant(kinda a demotion but she didn't like being the manager of store ops). Before this she ran her own HomeDayCare service and before that she worked as a manager in a nursing home. She has no college education as far as I know and knows a little about the Microsoft suite. She also works as my churches treasurer and helps out at the churches after school program. She has a worked a lot in accounting and data and has held a lot of leadership roles within her current company.
Despite the likely loss of her job, my mother is not in a terrible situation as my dad has a good paying job as well and she could easily find a another job somewhere but she would likely not be making what she makes now or be forced to work nights. However, this is not what I want for my mother, I would like her to be able to find a job where she is able to utilize her skills and one that she would like. Any suggestions on what kind of positions to look for and how to structure her resume.
