This question is mainly for people who have done recruiting in the past.
I have a few friends that work at a local medium sized tech company. They referred me and I applied for a position there and after about a week received a rejection letter. The same day I received a call from the HR VP saying they really liked me but just found a slightly better fit for that position and wanted me to try for a different position. I was allowed to bypass the first round of interviews for that position and interview again. After about a week the same thing happened again. Letter of rejection followed by a phone call from the VP saying they found a better fit but they still really liked me a lot and that there is now a third position that they would like me to come in and interview for.
My question is, is it likely that they really want to find a fit for me or is this just a standard recruiting practice to maximize the possible amount of good candidates even if I’m not necessarily a great fit for any of these roles?
Thanks!
