How to best negotiate a raise amount?

I'm on deck to receive a significant promotion at work and I've been asked to provide some kind of expectation about what kind of money I'm going to be looking for. I know the number that I want, but that number is mostly based off my feelings and on cursory research I've done in the past. I want something more concrete than that, if I can. I don't want to go way too high and have them balk at it, but I also don't want to go too low and shortchange myself when I could've gotten more.

Basically, at my company we have business analyst 1/2, and then senior BA. Over the past 5 years, I moved through BA 1/2. I would've certainly then moved on to senior BA this past year, but instead I've been taking on more of a leadership role, and now I'm going to be the guy who leads the entire BA/testing team. And now I need to give him a number, but I don't really know how. I believe that "senior business analyst" with 5+ years experience is right around upper 70s/low 80s in my area, which would already be a decent-sized raise for me. But it's pretty clear that I've already exceeded that level, because most Senior BA job postings I see involve little/no leadership responsibilities, which I've got a ton of, and I'm always doing a lot of project management, which is more in the $90k range. I'm pulling my numbers from glassdoor, payscale, and a couple other miscellaneous sites (o net).

All I want to do is ask for what's fair, and also correct the current inequity in my pay (I've been somewhat underpaid for at least a year now, probably longer). Anyone have any suggestions on how I can improve my negotiation here?
