Hey guys! Just wanted to share my experience with my first job out of college. I wanted to work at a law firm because I want to go to law school in the future, and thought it’d be a good idea to work in the environment first.
Long story short, I hated it. Not the job itself, but the law firm. They hired me as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal but they would make me do things they did not hire me for: feeding the fishes, changing light bulbs??, watering plants and getting groceries??? On top of that, one of my coworker somehow get on my last nerve every single day. It was the way that she talked to me, it was clear that she did not see me on the same level as her. She would constantly talk to me as if I’m incompetent. It’s a very small law firm, so HR basically doesn’t exist.
I thought back and forth a lot about whether to quit or stay because I did not want to struggle financially and be ungrateful for quitting my job in this pandemic. However, I recently launched an online art store and it has become another source of income for me, though not a lot, but just enough. And that was it, as soon as I knew I made enough to survive, I quit. I am so happy that I did, I now do something that I love everyday instead of waking up and hating my life. Although my original plan was to go to law school, I’m thinking I may just continue growing my art business instead because I love creating art. Thanks for reading guys :)
