Background and Process
I work for a big company that has many roles I can seek and because of this I can directly contact hiring managers when applying internally. Every week I select 1 to 3 perfect fit jobs and reach out to the hiring manager. I use this to talk to them and get them to send my resume to the HR person. This allows me to usually get to the interview process if I at all click with the manager and there isn't something going on with the job posting (~10% success rate). I am not hired yet because I still have a bit of trouble interviewing, high competition, and (comparatively) junior status, but each interview I feel like I am getting better results so it's only a matter of time.
Bio
- I am currently PMP (Project Management Professional) and CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) certified
- I have two undergraduate degrees (Management and Logistics)
- I am in an MBA program
- I have 12 years work experience in my field
- I am seeking roles in Product/Project Management as well as process improvement. I thrive in roles where I can make a lasting impact and make the (work) world a better place than when I found it.
Question(s)
- What do you think about my process? is there any tweaks I might make?
- What should I do if I get an offer in terms of ending things gracefully and leaving open doors with other internal jobs I am in the interview process for? How about any meetings I have scheduled in the future with hiring managers?
- I feel like I can get additional certifications to boost my chances and desirability. What do you guys think of Lean Six Sigma? Where would be a good/reputable place to get it online for not alot of money? How about ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner) and CSM (Certified Scrum Master)?
- Apart from the current roles I am seeking what kinds of roles do you think I can seek that make that lasting impact?
