Huge opportunity offered by friend who works for big firm, but job description is confounding (finance/programming related)
I have a connection with a major financial institution that offered to get me an interview for an analyst position, but the job description is baffling to me.. The description is sort of all over the place in that it includes risk analysis, databasing, programming, underwriting, customer service, and more.
I was hoping someone in the financial services industry with a job that revolves around risk analytics, database management (or both), or uses SQL could shed some light on what programs/software you use, what your day-to-day is like, or anything else you think useful to someone entering this kind of role. The description is as follows:

Individual will have the ability to work independently and to resolve complex database issues and work with development teams to tune SQL queries with emphasis on troubleshooting performance and non-performance related issues either independently or in conjunction with other teams including proactive monitoring of the databases, manage backup/recovery functions and ability to develop data requirements and configure database parameters accordingly.
