I graduated in December, and am about to start my first full-time job in a couple of weeks. It's a 12-month non-ongoing contract in a STEM field.
Aside from the obvious (getting experience and actually doing the job), what kind of things should I be trying to do to help my career path while I am there? E.g. networking? Any other tips about starting a new job?
I hear a lot about 'taking initiative' but I'm not sure what that looks like - should I be trying to find additional areas in which I can help, or is this something that will come later when I have more experience? Thanks!
