Advice on starting pay

The situation is I graduated from college with a degree in mechanical engineering two months ago and have been on the job hunt hard core. I have gotten a few interviews and an offer that fell through. The average starting pay is around 55-65k/year. I was wondering if I drop my asking starting wage to 45-50k/year if that would get me noticed more by potential employers. Any advice helps.
