Hi all,
For the past 3 years since earning my Bachelors degree, I’ve worked various social services jobs (3) to be exact. I graduated in 2015 so yeah I’ve basically been at each job from anywhere from 10 months to a year. My first job out of college was for one year and they were unable to keep me on as they eliminated the position (I knew this when I started so it didn’t come as any surprise). My second job, I worked at for 10 months at a therapeutic day school and I couldn’t handle the violence (two murders) and threats from students and upper management doing nothing to help prevent further violence so I left. My latest job I loved but unfortunately after 11 months, I experienced a death in my family and left. Started a caregiving job shortly after and wasn’t getting paid on time/in full or guaranteed my hours so I ended up leaving that job too.
Ugh, so job security has not been my friend. After 5 months of unemployment, I finally settled for a part time server position as I really need the money. Problem is, I was offered the job on the spot (which I’m grateful for) but however I have a pre-planned yoga teacher training trip (20 days) that I can either take at the end of February or early April. Yoga is my real passion and I’ve decided to pursue a server position to help pay the bills while I build up my yoga career and practice.
Any suggestions on how I should bring this up to the manager? I start Saturday and was thinking I should let her know then. Realllly wish I had the opportunity to discuss this during the interview.. kicking myself for that!
