I'm currently working a temp position as a hostess at a Mexican restaurant, my first restaurant job EVER. Unfortunately, one of my coworkers isn't a fan of me which is kind of crazy because I hardly speak to her and have never done anything wrong to her (she works behind the bar). Twice she has spoken to me in a rude way. I think she's not satisfied with my performance. Because this is my first restaurant job, I guess you could say I might need a thorough explanation of how things are done, especially since I don't want to make any mistakes. However, she's someone that says, "Go do XYZ" without really explaining how it's done. At the beginning when I was trained I didn't receive ALL the information that I needed to do my job well. Although I'm hostess, I do more than just greet and seat people. I help bring the customers drinks, salsas, food, clear the plates, clean the tables, and tell the waiters if the customers want to order more things. But they didn't give me all that info from that beginning.
How do you deal with coworkers that give negative vibes in a team-work environment? Unfortunately, I have to communicate with her.
What's the best way to handle someone like this?
