So after almost a year of searching and applying for countless jobs, I finally landed one I absolutely LOVE. My manager and team is incredible, and I genuinely care about the product and believe in what we do as a company.
However, I'd moved across the country with one semester left of my senior year of college. Unfortunately, I am unable to complete some of the classes required for my degree online, and as I've already finished most of my required credits I can't transfer.
Aside from my job, there is nothing keeping me here, and I'd really like to just finish my BA. I currently work in digital marketing, and my job is essentially to maintain their websites (entirely online). There are other members on my team who do work remote, and when I spoke to one co-worker, she now works remote in an entirely different state just because her boyfriend was moving for his residency. I think I could come up with a compelling case on how completing my education could benefit the company, which to me seems like a more legitimate reason than what my co-worker had; although it is worth noting our roles are different.
How does one propose the idea of working remote? I am planning on returning to school (part-time) in January, and would have been with he company for 9 months in December. If I am unable to work remote, I will quit and pursue my degree full-time instead. So this also leads me to my second question, when is the right time to ask? There is no one else who can take over my role, and I don't want to leave the company short staffed and in a bad position if I can't work from home. But! I again also love my job, and do need the income for as long as possible.
Thanks in advance for any insight into my situation!
