Anyone ever got a job interview when...?

Anyone ever got a job interview, when your initial application (when you applied online) was denied? So, I applied to this company about a week ago, and a few days ago they told me my application was denied, however today I got another email from that same company saying I was selected to move on to the next steps of the interview process.
