Over the past 1.5 months I’ve been interviewing at a company, gone through 2 design challenges, one live with the design team present and made it through for the hiring manager to tell me today in our call that I’m “really going to struggle in this role” because I lack experience and assertiveness and other candidates have many more years than I do.
If what I look like on paper is the deal breaker why did they even want to interview me.
I was speechless and then 5 minutes after it ended the recruiter said he heard the call “went great” and moved me to the final round. Honestly don’t know if they’re just trying to waste my time or think rejecting me is worse than making me go to the end of the process knowing my would-be future boss doesn’t even have faith in me. As a career changer this job search is really taking a toll.
