I feel dumb...

I recently took a first interview at a job I’m very interested in that is in my degree field. I have a master’s degree but have been working in customer service in the few years since I graduated. So anyways, interview goes well and they ask what my desired salary is. I was taken off guard. Was so worried about selling myself that I never thought about compensation within the salary range they posted. I know I lowballed myself. It’s my own fault for not being prepared for this question, but I figured that was a second interview topic. It’s the first formal interview I’ve had in years. Good news is that I did get contacted for a second interview. Can I change my original number or is that bad form that could cost me the position?

TL;DR - I think I lowballed my preferred salary in first interview. Should I/any advice on changing the number during my second interview?
