How to say you don’t want to be converted?

I’ve been doing contract positions for the past few years and I really enjoy it. The pay is very high and if I’m in an environment that is toxic, it’s much easier to exit when you’re a contractor.

However, I don’t know how to communicate this to recruiters without sounding negative. Most employers want to hire you on permanently if you’re good and they like you, and that’s what most contractors want...but I don’t. So how do I say, “By the way, I don’t want to be converted, I just want to work the length of the contract” without coming across as a tool?
