While looking for teaching jobs I found this line peculiar

"We are particularly interested in welcoming team members who have experienced oppression, discrimination, or other adversity in their lives who are willing to bring insights from those experiences to our team."

Now I will say that it's definitely their right to hire based off of these pretenses, but it's a bit strange to me. Not only am I vying for the position based off of my credentials/experience, but now it's a competition of hardship and the virtue I may have gained from these experiences. What do you guys think about this?

(edit) Btw this is a Montessori charter school in a wealthy part of town.
