I work for a law firm and and I am one of 4 staff members on the floor. I’m an integral part of the business and have given them my all for the past 9 months, serving as 2ic to the practice manager. Found out today, as I was asked to research the venue for the party, that my boss is invited and I (and the other staff) are not. I replaced someone in this role who I happen to know was invited last year, so it’s extra insulting and furthers the impression that they would prefer she had stuck around.
On top of this, I’m underpaid. I’m paid 10k less than my predecessor, which I get since she had been there for a few years, but I’m also doing a better, more comprehensive job than she did (my bosses words). I’m paid 5k more than the disability hire on our team and he, to be frank, does literally nothing (he also spent the last 3 months getting paid but not attending work due to lockdown - no, not using his ample leave, but just being paid to sit at home while I worked). To give an impression of how underpaid my role is, my predecessor left for a $20k pay increase.
On top of that, I work with a bunch of assholes. They can be super nice until it suits them, and they rarely say Thankyou. The second court is involved or something needs to be urgently done, they treat me like shit because they’re stressed.
My boss is a really nice person and usually a good manager so I am hesitant to leave. What do you guys think?
