Hello, after reading about many people resigning from horrible jobs with bad bosses, toxic environments etc. Well, I have kind of the opposite situation: I want to resign from my current job, in a company which treats me well and pays me good money, with a nice boss, who has good trust in my skills, and some good colleagues too.
The reason: more than a year ago, I moved to the capital of a European country, where the company is located, but I hate my life here. I have been an expat for many years, I learned what works for me and makes me happy as a foreigner: not this.
Also, I want to take a break from this type of career, it's too energy demanding, especially during these crazy times. Possibly even leaving this career for good. Thus, asking to work from home would not be an option for me, if ever possible.
I joined my current company only to gain some valuable experience and to make good money, hopefully to make friends in the city and some memorable life experiences. I've been thinking about resigning for several months so far, but I was hanging on because I needed to save money and to be able to afford a long break.
My boss is born and raised in this country, so I feel like it would be rude to share my real thoughts on this place. I would definitely love to come back to this person for any type of recommendation in the future, thus I want to keep some kind of good relationship. Also, I think this person deserves more loyal employees than me, whatever that means.
Any advice on how to elegantly quit?
