I resigned from my graduate job after 2 weeks because of declining mental health, but now I really want the job back - what can I do? (Please read below)
So this is my current predicament. I started a job as a Legal Analyst at an international law firm, on the first week of September. This was a graduate position and my first job.
I was, and still am, in a very bad place mentally. Suffering depression, and even suicidal tendencies. One day, 2 weeks into the job, after a severe anxiety/panic attack; I out of the blue called my manger and told her I was leaving (after only 2 weeks). When asked why, I lied and said I was leaving ti pursue a Phd. (Very stupid, I know. But I needed a respectable way to leave as I was too scared to say that I was leaving because I was on the verge of a very bad mental decline).
It’s been almost a month since, and I have seen doctors, now on medication and feeling in a better place. I never should have resigned, and I loved the job and company. But, I only resigned because of my mental state - although they think it was because I wanted to pursue doctoral studies - completely untrue.
I want to go back to this job, I wish I could turn back the clock. Is there anyway that I could email my manager and ask to have a discussion with her and HR, explain to them what happened with my life, with the possibility of them giving me my job back?
