I am struggling to get out of working in the kitchen and into a career. I am afraid no one wants to hire a cook for office jobs.

I am 24 and a senior at a 4 year school. I have been working in a restaurant since I was 15 but now, I am wanting to find a job that will provide possible career advancement opportunities whether at the same company or another one. I have applied to over 30 jobs in the Administrative Associate position but I have not received one nibble of interest from an employer.

I am in fear that perhaps my job experience is only stuck in such a niche department. My experience is mostly just cooking with no gaps since 2014 with very, very minimal experience in both customer interactions (server) and office work within the kitchen. The job itself pays decently but its not what I want to do and there's no advancement. I also can't afford to give up the job to seek out the more or same type job to pad my resume just for experience. I am unfortunately banking on my minimal related work experience and soon to be college degree to persuade employers I can be of service.

I've even gone to my schools resources to help create both my resume and cover letters and I stretch the truths in my documents to fit their requirements but I am still not even getting a crumb. I'm not sure what I need to do differently or what I'm doing wrong.

Edit: I am a English major with a minor in technical writing
