I am a junior in college, majoring in Art History. How do you make connections in other fields like lab work or finance or something like that? There are very few career opportunities in Art History unfortunately.

My parents have basically no connections, and my connections in college are basically all in the anthropology, writing, and art history fields. I don't know how any of those would translate into a job where I'd make 40k a year, which is what I'd like to make post-college, at least for the first few years.

I really like urban planning and was wondering how to use my art history experience to get into a grad program concerning that field? I really have zero interest in working in archaeology and art history anymore because it seems so difficult to get a job. I am in my early 20s so I barely have any time until I am old and dying anyways. I am extremely sleepy and tired, so tired, so tired, so extremely tired all day, every day, no matter how much sleep I get. I am just so unmotivated where I live, in this college town. I am originally from the East Coast, but my parents moved out here to a much smaller city in the midwest because most of my family is around here. It's very blah around here but at least I go to a major university.

I just want to figure out a way to find internships, but I don't really have the connections necessary for the type of field I want to work in, or finding jobs that would give me enough money to rent a studio at 35% or less of my income.

I do like Art History, especially the Romantic Period, and I like the cultural capital I have gained from choosing this major, but I wasn't thinking too clearly about job prospects, and now I am trying to make connections in another field, but I don't have any, and the career center people seem very confused. I guess it's my fault.

I am currently doing research at an archaeological laboratory and work on excel all day at my job.
