Company I interviewed for weeks ago rejected me, claimed to have hired someone else, but I see no one new on their LinkedIn?

The listing was only made available through LinkedIn. It wasn’t even on their website. Anyways, I’ve applied twice to this place, got interviews both times. Made it to the end for the second time but lost out to someone else.

Are they just testing the market to see who is out there applying for roles? Did they actually hire someone who doesn’t have a LinkedIn? What’s going on?
