I'm a graduate with a degree in ecology and after years of searching, finally landed something in biology as a lab tech. Our director was fired within two days beginning. My trainer, who didn't have training and was on the job for 3 months, was fired for not training us and giving us busy work. My supervisor kept pushing back "training" until this week, which turned out to be me doing stuff that required no training and having to deal with a slide spilt on the floor because someone didn't secure a plate in the freezer, and learning to do something on the database to reorganize the dropped samples because my supervisor and the person she emailed to help me fix the problem were too busy. Today, we were supposed to begin a special project that involved shadowing the same person that was supposed to help me, but my supervisor didn't respond to my follow up email because the person never showed up, and I found the email of the person that was supposed to show up and they didn't answer my email. One of the DNA samples is missing since the spill and I was told to tell no one. No lie.
What the fuck is happening here and what am I supposed to do about it? What power do my recruiters who got me this contract have over my training? I want to make a career out of my degree and I feel like one of the few career oriented people here.
