I'm being realistic as I look for a full-time remote job. Right now, I just trimmed my hours at my other job, due to the fact that the company couldn't give me extra pay, but wanted to keep me for a set number of hours. So I will be working 20 hours per week, doing light web development and helping keep clients in check, answering emails, prepping trainings, and writing proposals. That sort of thing. It's work I enjoy and it will be about 3 hours per day, Monday through Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, now that I have the time, I wanted to get a full-time job that is around 36-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, working around 7 hours per day. I want to keep the other job too.
In my free time, I like to write, and spend a few hours per day doing it. I'll be working on apps and writing until I have the new job, and mostly just doing a little of those things in my free time after.
So, 10 hour days, with lots of variety and doing the things I enjoy... do you think I am being unrealistic? I don't expect to have massive amounts of free time but if I do, my hobby will just be writing and going to the gym, going for a walk with my dog and girlfriend, and doing things on weekends after my 3 hour Saturday morning work (from home) finishes.
I feel like I won't get burned out and the variety will be good for me. A lot of people work 8 or 9 hours just doing one job per day plus an hour of commute (which I don't have). My commute to my current office is about 10 minutes there and back.
