How long should I expect to wait for the contract and official letter after accepting a verbal offer?

I accepted the verbal offer last Wednesday, but I haven’t gotten the contract or official letter yet and my start date is September 20. Is it normal to wait this long/this close to start date for them to put it in writing? I thought they would’ve had it to me the next day or two after, but I feel like we’re getting really close to start
