I was accepted a position through a temp staffing agency for a 3 month contract in a city 4 hours from where I currently am.
I have been looking for places to live for the past 2 weeks with no luck. Studios in the area are going for 1300, and forget about trying to get them to do a short term lease.
As suggested, I checked Airbnb—2,000 a month for a place.
I am a single woman with health issues, I really cannot live with roommates that I don’t know.
I feel defeated. I don’t want to get blacklisted by the actual company I’d be working for—being blacklisted by the staffing agency is fine as I will be going back to school next summer for something unrelated.
I don’t know what to say to handle this professionally. I accepted the job, so now I feel horrible for backing out. It’s just not feasible. Am I being unreasonable?
