As an international student from Indonesia, companies rejected me left and right because I can only work for a year without sponsorship. So I finally gave up applying for full time, started looking for more contract positions and then I landed a freelance position at one of the biggest TV company/streaming platform in the US!
I don’t know when I have to go through the job searching process again since this is a freelance/contract position, but this is still an achievement for me and I’m so happy I’m able to pause the stressful job searching process for now.
Guys, don’t give up. If I can do it with that extra weight on my back (the stupid visa status issue), YOU CAN TOO. I applied and applied and applied and I did not give up. I knew the opportunity is just around the corner, and I GOT IT.
