I had an interview Thursday for a HR Manager position and I would really like the job. It seems my job duties will be recruitment, compliance, compensation, benefits, and doing new hire orientation. We covered that, hours worked, and she asked me about hr law a little bit. Then she asked me about 10 behavior questions, which I answered. We went over salary and benefits as well. I will be managing 2 hr generalists. The thing is that I have more recruiting experience than hr and this will be my first time managing someone as I do not have management experience. So my questions are these.
- What else should I ask in the 2nd interview in regards to the position?
- What else can I ask to find out more information about my team?
The reason for my second question is because I am a little nervous when it comes to the people that I will be managing as they are women (and im a guy). My biggest thing though is that I do not want any bitter employees that are maybe mad because someone is their boss, or maybe they get mad due to having work delegated to them. Im a laid back person and I have literally seen employees tell their manager, "well you are the manager, you do it. Thats why you get paid more" Stuff like that. And other people that are insubordinate. I guess my question is, how do I go about asking questions to make sure that I am walking into a "good situation" and not a toxic one?
