Should I ask for more than what they have on the job posting?

On the job listing it says that the hourly pay is $15 but when I was filling out the job application, it asked what I want my desired base salary to be. Since $15 an hour is slightly under 30K, should I still put 30K or should I put down what I think I deserve? I've worked in restaurants and call centers in the past and now I'm going into a newish industry (cold calling/sales) so I know I can't ask for much. I think 35K sounds nicer, but I'm worried that they'll get offended and end up rejecting me.
