Help please
Okay, so I’m new to this Reddit community, I read a few people’s rants on here and thought I should also. So, I recently turned 18 in march, and got my first job in a hotel’s gift shop where they make starbucks coffee and sell souvenirs and stuff like that. It’s a small little shop, has about 7 employees, but the shifts usually only have 1-2 people running the shop throughout the day. I got the job because the owner of the gift shop was a close friend of my dad. So I got the job fairly easily, and I only work weekends because I’m still in highschool, and i’ve been working there for a little over a month. I just found out that my co-workers have been training me wrong on purpose to sabotage me and I get snapped at by the boss (my dad’s friend). I’m a really fast learner, so I thought I was doing a good job, but my boss snaps at me calling me “Retrded”, IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS, whenever I do whatever I’m told and when I try to explain myself to the boss that I was taught this way, he gets mad. My co-workers say I have low IQ to just degrade me and so does my boss. They usually get mad whenever they’re under tension, like if a customer wants a coffee, but I like to work at my own pace, because I don’t want to rush and mess their order up, but my co-workers get upset with me for it. I really like my job, but I can only take so much of the verbal abuse before I snap. The day my boss called me retrded, after I got off work, I sent him a text basically saying that in 2 weeks, I won’t be working there. My boss didn’t like that at all and asked why as if nothing happened. I explained why I was quitting and that they’re toxic attitude isn’t good for my mental health, and he completely denied it. Straight up told me I was lying and that he will give me new shifts with different employees, so they’ll train me the right way. He told me I was doing so good and that I should reconsider my decision of quitting. In my opinion, he’s toxic and manipulative, but that’s why I’m ranting and just asking for help because I know this new generation of kids can be sensitive, and this is my first job so I don’t really know a lot about what’s normal or what’s not. Thanks for reading my rant and thank you x2 if you help me. :)
