Advice needed on background check
Background check: Urgent advice
Hey everyone,
-
I provided notice to my current employer before the pre-employment background check is completed. Has any one been in that situation? I know I shouldn’t have done that, but any advice on how to handle the current employer if something goes awry with my background check process?

I had a short 3-month contract job with a startup that hired many of its employees through a staffing agency. This job has no relation to the job I have been offered. However, on my resume, I have only mentioned the startup’s name and not the staffing agency’s name and forgot to mention that this was a contract role (genuine mistake). Is that a problem? However, in my background check application form, I have included the name of the staffing agency in this format: Startup Name // Staffing Agency Name. Should I be worried? Should I let the recruiter know in advance? Or this should not be a problem given that a) this was just a 3-month long position that is unrelated to my current job (and I have only held full time jobs since then) and b) I have already included the name of the agency in the background check form?
3) What do they typically check in the background check process? The third party has reached out to my managers and not the HR departments of the companies I was at. I am worried my manager wouldn’t know how to respond according to standard HR policies. Should I be worried? What can I do now, if anything?
Please let me know if you have any advice on any do these things. Thank you very much!
