I have a referral program that I am supposed to talk about and it is part of my job duties. An email is supposed to be sent out every week about this program to hype it up. When I first started, I was just sending a plain email, with just the wording to describe the program. Well, when I got onto the team I am on now(previous manager was fired and I was transferred to this new team), my new coworker was describing the program by using memes which was kinda cool. Unfortunately, after a few weeks, she left and this task feel back onto me.
Now, its gotten worse..I tried to use some funny memes (the office/parks and rec) and she told me that she did not like it. I told her that i could still send the email(i don't like to tell my bosses no), but unfortunately, I am more of the analytical type and not the creative type. She told me that she would get someone else to do it, when we hired my coworkers replacement. It is kind of annoying because that is just her opinion, and no one else complains about this email and all supervisors and upper management see it. I am single and a guy, and so I don't celebrate valentine's day and mother's day or father's day(no kids and parents are deceased) I have already told her that looking for memes around those holidays are going to be an issue for me but I was willing to focus on another day/holiday instead.
It has now gotten so bad, that she has me reaching out to another co worker(she is a woman and the creative type) to help draft the email. I am to the point, where I dread her even asking about the email. When I told her today that my coworker was not here today, and that i was just going to center the email around Easter and put some Easter bunny and eggs on it, she told me that was fine but for me to send it to her so she could look it over and "approve it".
I am just so annoyed with this. I really feel like I am being micromanaged over an email for a referral program and this is just beyond ridiculous. Sometimes during 1:1's she will ask what she can do to be better, and I really want to bring this up, but I don't want to cause any issues. What should I do?
