I was working for company for almost 5 years and then the pandemic hit. Last June I was let go. While at that company I was able to get promoted three times. I've been applying for jobs that I believe are below my skill level, parallel and more challenging. I'm only getting call backs for positions that are entry level. I accepted a position about a month ago and my start date was scheduled for today but I was asked to start early. 3 days in and I'm ready to walk away. It just doesn't feel right. Also, ego does pop up quite often. Bottom line, I need to be challenged. I don't see this as challenging position. Why is it so hard to find something comparable to my last job?
I found out today the person that hired me (and is my supervisor) has a brain tumor and is going to be on leave for a few weeks, which makes me feel like an a-hole if I walk away. With?! 😒
I can't believe it's been so difficult to make a lateral move. I'm so frustrated.
