So I've been at my first full time job for about 10 months now, and know that I want to quit once I have another job lined up.
I have a check-in with my boss tomorrow, and I don't really know how to approach it. The problem is that back in November, I basically had a break down in front of her about how stressed and unhappy I was in my position. She was kind enough to basically reshape my entire role, which helped a lot. However, it was still technically a short-term solution, and didn't really get to the root of the problem which is that I'm unhappy in this industry as a whole and would like to switch paths.
Considering that means there's not much else she can do for me, I just don't know what the most professional and respectful thing to do here is. Do I say everything is going well, and just quit whenever the time comes? Or should I be honest with her that I don't see myself doing this for much longer?
The thing I worry about with being honest with her is- I'm not quitting, and there's not much more she can do for me. So I worry she'd just kind of be like "Okay ... so why are you still here?" But I also am anxious about not being honest with her, because I really don't want to blindside her when I quit, and would feel better knowing she had some sort of heads up.
