According to the few places that interviewed me out of many applications, I have an "interesting" background. Apparently not interesting enough to get hired though -- also not enough to be interviewed really.
Idk where to apply to that will have anyone want to hire me for an even remotely livable wage. I've been at the same company for almost 5 years (since college), but I've been promoted a few times there because it's such a small company. I started in data entry, worked my way into a recruiting-type position where I found and onboarded independent contractors, and now I'm the customer service manager (although my roles have been limited since the company's owners don't like anyone having any real authority or data to work with -- basically I hire, train people, and handle escalations/complaints while also doing basic customer service tasks).
I worked at a pet store in college and had an internship with a federal law enforcement branch (basically just helped file things for them and sat in/watched a lot of federal court proceedings).
I have a bachelor's in psychology (aka an expensive piece of paper) and minored in criminology & criminal "justice" (aka an expensive footnote for that expensive piece of paper).
Other that that, I was in the military as a public affairs/broadcast journalist which was really fun honestly, but mostly because of the people I worked with and the overall leadership.
So I guess my background is data entry, customer service, and management...with just a hint of broadcast journalism.
Any thoughts on what kinds of jobs to apply for right now? I honestly don't know what to do career-wise, but I need to find some sort of job soon (not even looking for a dream job or career at those point). My current employers (although I'm grateful to have a job at all) treat everyone absolutely terribly and I can't take much more of it, but don't have any "f you money" to just leave without another job lined up.
Idk what kinds of jobs to apply to that will consider an unspecified resume like mine with no direction other than call centers and unlivable wage positions. I have a general knowledge of a lot of things, but I'm not an expert in any one thing.
Thank you even just for reading this honestly. I'm super lost right now and really losing hope of anyone actually hiring me.
