So I live in Washington, DC and I have recently started applying to jobs located in Chicago. I am a CPA that specializes in a niche area of compliance so I have started my search well before I plan on moving because the market for what I do is small but highly in demand.
Ideally I would like to move in or around November when my lease is up but I am wondering in the event I get a job offer well before that has anyone ever delayed moving to a new city by several months and started their new job remotely for the first few months? If you have done this how did you negotiate this?
Also the companies I am targeting are huge multi-national firms that likely have employees in the DC area so I think these firms would be familiar with the tax implications of having employees in multiple states.
Thanks for your insight!
