Becoming a Dental Hygienist a career option?

First off I’ve never been interested until now to join the medial field my university has a great Dental Hygienist degree/certification program and guaranteed jobs program as well. My question is for someone just looking to start working and find a career path also someone who isn’t to knowledgeable in this field would it be a good idea to at least try to explore this path?
