Would you support a centralized service that streamlines all hiring and employment?

My brother mentioned it but I told him it’d be stupid. He brought some interesting points but I still don’t think it’d be beneficial. How he explained it:

Something like a national database. Anybody who wants to work can register. The registration would be just like any other job application, listing name, location, skills, etc. It’d be required to qualify for an unemployment benefits, etc.

Every company with a TAX ID is required to register for a business account as part of the application for a business license. They can also list jobs for which registered applicants can apply.

Basically, companies looking for employees can use the database to find candidates with the qualifications they’re looking for. Because the application is centralized, you can literally see everyone fitting a certain criteria.

Companies are also able to leave “reviews” once an employee has departed for whatever reason. These reviews would fall off automatically after a year.

The same would go for companies, where former employees can leave reviews (similar to Indeed). To maintain integrity, only one account per SSN or Tax ID.

The purpose of centralization would be to streamline the hiring process. It would also take out the middle-man/references in hiring.

Think of it as ‘the Common App’ for jobs, with a few ‘Yelp’ functionalities.

While there are a few kinks to work out, it was just an idea he had and I wanted to see if anybody else had thought of something similar.
