Hi, I'll try to keep it as short as possible. I already signed with Company A because I was desperate, however, thinking about this job gives me anxiety because of several reasons: for starters it's a call center job, which I hate and I swore i was never going back. However, the pay is very decent (salaried), w/benefits from day one. That's pretty much it.
Company B is a job that is more in the area I want to expertise (operations support for insurance, more like a back office). The pay is also pretty decent (some 2.5K less than the other). However, the downside is that this is a one year contract, they assured me there are strong chances of becoming permanent but we all know this guarantees nothing. (There's also no insurance but in Canada that's not a big deal because what I pay every month for insurance vs one visit to the dentist a year doesn't really make a big difference.)
At this point, my main concern is... am I crazy for refusing a job that offers me permanency vs a job that's a 1 year contract with 2K less in salary?
Job B makes me very happy when I think about it because I have some experience in this area and Im very good with clerical tasks. They also treated me very good in the interview and application process.
Job A gives me a lot of anxiety. The interview was awful and the director treated me pretty badly. I have a feeling she will go very hard on me. I am also bad doing customer service and i will probably get fired from underperforming.
Company A also has bad reviews.
Since i alreasy signed with Company A, i know I'll be burning a bridge forever... which is something i dislike.
Edit: forgot to add that my last call center job gave me ptsd which 2 years after I'm still affected. I am so scared of company A for this reason.
