The $15/hr or $12.85/net min wage was discussed in 2012, 9 years ago
Phasing that in in 3 years will make it equivalent to what it has been.
Housing and healthcare costs have risen from 2012 to 2021. Tripled
So a person on min wage cant afford to rent an avg 1BR
Some employees on low wages $8-$10/hr a month or less were eligible for SNAP benefits. Most definitely if they had a child
And some were eligible for Medicaid. Most States don't offer that to adults who have no children
$15/hr or $12.85 net will make everyone ineligible for SNAP and Medicaid
$8-$10/hr and SNAP and Medicaid
$15/hr ($12.85 net) no SNAP, no Medicaid
How is $15 better?
To make an impact it should be $20-$22/hour
No one in any major Metropolitan area can rent a 1BR on $15/hr $30,000/year
