Will any hiring be done this upcoming week, or should candidates expect to hear nothing until the new year?

I saw a similar question to this, in which someone mentioned that each office will vary: some offices shut down completely until the new year and some offices have people come into work from December 28 - 30th. I’m not super familiar with office culture/office holiday norms, just because everyone in my family is a teacher, and have always stuck to the school calendar year. So:

A) Do most offices just shut down completely and let everyone have December 24th - January 1st off? I know it’s going to vary per office here, but I’m wanting a general sense of things.

B) Even if some offices do have people coming in...hiring is going to be the last thing thing anyone works on right? So basically just don’t expect to get any hiring updates till the new year?
