Howdy.
I want to keep it short so I'll just say I'm 21 and have never had a job before due to a combination of school and family issues. Recently an opportunity has presented itself at my dad's workplace, which works with trees. I've been kinda putting it off for a while but as the end of the month draws closer (supposedly the time when the opening will be there), I have been getting nervous, as I have no idea what I'm doing.
I honestly really do want a job. I want to make my own money and I truly want to get out there and get working. I just have no idea how to convey this. I really don't even know how this whole "getting the job" thing is going to go. Surely there has to be an interview or something first right? I've never written a resume and even if I knew how, I don't have anything to put on it. If there's an interview, I really think I'll blow it because I'm a very upfront to the point type of person in conversation.
Eg. "Why should we hire you?" - "I don't have any outside activities that hinder my ability to work and I honestly just want to work to make some money for myself. The type of work doesn't matter to me, I'll show up and do it." would be my answer, I know they usually like to hear something about "furthering company interests" or whatever. I'm just very lost and don't know what to do. I really want to make sure I get this job.
