I know the salary range of a position I'm about to interview for. How do I ask for the high end?

I've been talking to the marketing executive about a position that's about to open up at the company. She told me the salary range and said I should apply. Now I'm going to interview for the position next week and I know the HR rep will ask me my salary requirements.

I truly believe that I'm worth the high end of the salary range and I want to ask for it, but I've never been that direct about it and I need help.

Do I name the exact figure that I know is the max? Do I say a range and hope they make me an offer that's at the high end of that? Do I ask for what I know is above the range and let them counter? What do you recommend?
