My background thus far has been entry level Recruiting/ HR. I’ve been out of my corporate role since late May 2020. Thinking maybe now is a good time for a career change since I haven’t gotten anywhere with my current field. I’ve been applying pretty much every few days to any and all roles I see within my city. But since I have so much time off, I figured I might try to pick up some hard skills (certs or skills) but unsure what to pursue.
My summarized skill sets so far includes:
- Decent in Excel- formula lookups, pivot tables, etc. and know like the bare bones of SQL - Some PM exp- managed some programs at my old job (one of the FANG companies) - Recruiting- scheduling, ATS, little sourcing, Boolean search, etc. - HR- new hire onboarding, I9s, HRIS, admin work, etc. - AWS Cloud Practitioner cert- the entry level cert
Fields/ Interests I’m not entertaining: - HR- no thank you; never again haha. The stigma against HR is real! They make all the rules and yet break them all. - SQL- ehhh idk if I want to learn this esp if I’m not interested in becoming data analyst
Fields/ Interests I’m interested in: - Business Analyst- prob should get really proficient at Excel (learn macros, VBA) and look into Tableau. IDK what else I should pick up on. - Recruiting- ?? - Project/ Program Management- Lean Sigma Cert?
If you have any advice on courses, programs, certs I should look into lmk please!
