Would it be alright to check up on the status of your application after you had an interview? (Further info in description)

I had job interview on Thursday and was told that I would hear back either Thursday or Friday that I would get job or not. It’s Saturday and I haven’t heard anything thing back yet so I was wondering would it be a good idea to call and check on the status of my application tomorrow. I check my application online today and it still says in progress so I know I wasn’t totally rejected.
