Hi, I was laid off from a digital marketing role in Jan. I have a part time job with a search engine rating site and have just started receiving unemployment. My last job was soul crushing but I have learned a lot about marketing if nothing besides what not to do as a startup. I have applied for 3 jobs a week as requested by unemployment. I have had three interviews. Of course I screw them all up because even though I know marketing really well, I am inarticulate when I'm nervous. So I figured these interviews even though the pay wasn't what I was hoping for would be practice. I was being paid 70k per year by the end of my employment.
So one of the jobs actually seemed to like my incoherent blabbering and called me back for a 2nd interview. Now the issue is that the pay is 60 to 70k. I realize I'm terrible at interviews but it doesn't diminish my skills and worth. I was hoping for at least 75k. The other perks alone are not matching my previous job either. Now here's the issue. I get many interviews and if I practice I can land a job that pays well. I had an interview for 100k a year job, but that is one I messed up totally. (I even just stayed silent for 30 seconds and said I can't think...). But unemployment will kick me off if I refuse a job. But I don't want to limit myself to this first job. They messaged me for the 2nd interview, which is when I asked the pay rate. Then she said the range, and asked if this was ok. But like I said I don't want to limit my opportunity to find a great job. I was mentally abused for 5 years at my last job and owe it to myself to take a little more time to find something I would happily accept. I'm not trying to mooch off unemployment I swear, but I don't think I should just end my search after one week especially after I saw I was able to land interviews for much higher roles.
Should I email her and accept the 2nd interview or tell her the range is slightly low. And how would I phrase that. My goal isn't to hurt her feelings.
TLDR: unemployment is over when someone offers me a job. Threw net out everywhere after one week on unemployment. 3 jobs called. One was great pay but I screwed the interview up. Other jobs are average. One average one offered a 2nd interview but pay is lower than I hope for (but not out of what I'd accept if there were other perks but there aren't). If I go for the second interview and get an offer I'm losing my opportunity to look for a great job. Realizing I can get interviews for management roles at 100k made me not want to continue with this interview process. But I'm unsure how to proceed.
